Why do I need a Special Power of Attorney?

Before a person can enter into a transaction or legal agreement, or conduct particular activities, on behalf of another person, the consent of that person is required. For example, the authority to sell someone else’s goods or vehicle, the authority to collect rental or take legal action against a non-paying tenant, or the authority to enter into an agreement. This Special Power of Attorney serves to record the consent.

Who should use a Special Power of Attorney?

If you wish to authorise a third party to do or sign something on your behalf, then this Special Power of Attorney may be considered to authorise the transaction, agreement, or conduct action. Note that this Special Power of Attorney is limited to a specific, identified activity.  If a principal wishes to grant the agent wide and all-encompassing authority, the General Power of Attorney should be considered.
